Update: I have to give Elk credit. After this review and after the full bill was paid they still made an effort to earn back our trust. We had someone run into the siding on one of the garages and we gave them another opportunity. They were communicative and quick and got the job done affordably. I have never had such a bad experience with follow-through and communication in my life. We hired Elk to redo the siding on all 11 buildings in our community, and to replace 20 decks. We paid them over $1.5 million. The job they did was serviceable, but when it came to touch-ups and follow up it was non-existent. They moved on to the next project and basically forgot about us. Thankfully we hired a company to do a final walkthrough and they have been working with Elk to get certain concerns addressed. But our project was done in February, it's now the middle of May and they still aren't done. And the worst part is they do not communicate. I was the lead for my community and HOA board for this project. I will say that during the project they were great, they were helpful, and they went above and beyond in a lot of ways. But as soon as the majority of the project was done they were gone. Ghosting emails, not responding to questions, and just not getting the project done. I'm sad to say that because of their response once the project was 95% complete, I would never hire them for another one. Not ever. Again I want to reiterate that they were great to work with for the first 90% of the job. They were communicative and went above and beyond in many ways. And they did great work. But once the bulk of the project was complete the communication stopped. It took months and a threat to bring in a new contractor before we started getting answers again. At that point communication was great again. It's now the beginning of July project is just wrapping up.

I can thoroughly recommend Elk Construction. I live in an HOA controlled town home which was one of several which had been left unfinished by a previous contractor. Now my neighbors and I are pleased as ours has been finished correctly and architecturally added value to the house. The owner, staff and work crew were second to none. They worked hard, swept and tidied up at the end of the day and made sure we were happy with their work. When one of the work crew found out the light in my garage had broken he and the electrician insisted on repairing it for me, even providing the part needed and refusing payment. I really appreciated the gesture as I know it would have been a costly repair.
